In terms of upgrading the RAM, I think this will work? Does anyone know for sure?

Also, do you think it's possible to substitute the existing 8.5 CFM with the 10.9 CFM sister fan shown on this web site? The size and voltage specs are the same, but the wattage and amperage are different.

My 2000 had 72pin DIMM's not the 168, double sidded. Yours may be a newer version than mine.
The fan will work. There are some that have higher output. Check with Jameco or Mouser Electronics.

Maybe this will help. Fry's electronic has one that will fit.

The highest CFM rating I could find was this one at 12 CFM, which happens to be 52x52x15: http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=displayproduct&lstdispproductid=231062&e_categoryid=412&e_pcodeid=66400
As you may recall, I can get a 10.9 CFM from the same manufacturer of my current fan. Do you think 1.1 CFM will make a huge differrence?

I would select the quietest one.

I installed the Mouser Part # 664-D5215HX1-12V 12CFM fan in my Snap Server 2000 and it's pretty loud (28.7dBA). I'm going to replace it with a new Elina HDF5216L-12MB (24dBA).

Yes, you're right. It is pretty loud. Please let me know how the Elina works out for you and if it's worth upgrading.
Thanks,

I just recieved the Elina fan from UTec today and installed it. It's MUCH quieter (not much louder than the drives themselves.) In my application, the noise from the Mouser fan was unacceptable, so it was completely worth it. The hard drives do run a little warmer, though. If you can tolorate the noise, I would stick with the Mouser fan to keep the drivers cooler. If you're trying to keep the Snap Server running 24/7 in a small dorm room, then I would whole heartedly recommend the Elina fan.
