Anyone know what CPU is in the 4100? I know a pentium... but what is it exactly? I might need a replacement (fried, fan = dead) :-\

*edit: ok I just found it is a 233MHz Pentium & 128MB SDRAM

trying to see if there is anything more specific about it?
on a press release on snapappliance it showed as a 233MHz PIII, but I didn't think they made PIII's in 233?

I would like to know what failed if you get it back running. When my fan failed in my 2000, I didn't received an email's stating there was a problem. When I booted my pc I recieved an error that the share was missing. My case got so hot you couldn't lay it on your bare legs wiwth out it burning you. Found that both hd had failed. 1 was due to a memory error on the controller. The other was actual disk failure. I've tried to revive it, but kept getting errors. Have ordered and received replacement ram chips. They are the easiest to replace. Atleast I wont have to solder 177 leads........ My eyes are not like they use to be.

If you decide to replace the cpu, you may wont to see if a higher speed will mate up.

Hey I just got this in the mail today.

The guy had said the CPU fan had stopped spinning or whatever, but it only spins when it needs to. At first I thought it was DOA, but I took the cpu fan off and found the CPU was just sitting there, I put it back and locked it into position and everything worked great after that.

has the following version info.
Hardware: v2.2.1
Software: 4.0.830
BIOS: 2.4.437

Thanks for the help, glad I didn't have to try swapping the CPU and all of that. :)

*edit: oh right now I just put in 3 drives to see if they would work, just some I had laying around.
1 WD 30GB
1 WD 40GB
1 Maxtor 40GB

and all are working.

I do see this in the error log after running a check disk.
Disk Driver : Device 0x10002 SMART warning. Disk FFFFFFFF

but what is Device 0x10002 ??

0x10002 sound like one of the system partitions, ie a virtual ID

I didn't think these old units worked with the SMART hd tech. That's nice to know.
The 0x10002 is reference to ????? the hd Smart controller cards disk cache. My seagates that were fried in my 2000 had a similar error. Didn't find out till I connected them to a mb & os that supported it. Used Seatools.

It has to be related with ram/hd cache maybe. Really haven't a clue, just making an educated guess.

I upgraded the OS with the patch available on Adaptec's site and it isn't giving the error anymore. *shrug*
