I just inherited a couple Snap Server 4000's that work was tossing out and one of them they did not have the password for. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset these/clear the password? I don't care about losing whats on them or anything. I also need to locate a manual for them..

Just found my own answer you can do it by resetting the unit and you don't even lose what is on it. Full instructions were in a FAQ on the snapappliances website.

btw does anyone even read this forum? looks like it is hardly posted in anymore :(

How did you do that password reset? I think that the forum that it was on has changed or been removed. I have a Snap 4000 that needs the admin password to be blanked because it was never documented. Losing the data on the device is not an option.

Password reset instructions can be found here:

And yes, we still post here quite often. I guess you just have to be here at the right time :)

jontz, look at the date. Not since 2004 for this thread.

Oh, well...there is that :)

I was referring to the forum in general anyway.

I've been given two Snap servers to clean up, but I can't seem to get into them. I've reset the system settings back to default, and now I can connect to it through a browser, but I don't know the default username and password. How do I get into it? When I click on English US, it asks me for a User Name and Password. What would these be if they were reset?!

Thanks,

Kris

If you did a full system reset you need a copy of ASSIST to reset the network IP before you can go any further. The default PW ID: administrator, password (I think need to do a search it has come up may times before and should be in the wiki section and maybe the FAQ's.
