I see LabView 7 there aswell for $90. Still $90 more than I have right now. Also trying to figure out the hardware...

a keithley or national DAQ would do.

saw this:

maybe.

but you can get labview to work with just about anything as long as you are willing to program it to. serial, parallel ports, or even a gameport.

investigate all 4-20mA output inst,
some shutdown if the loop is opened which will necessitate a loooong cycle to get a reading
I just use a dedicated dmm (w/GPIB) for the dP xmtrs,
if switching use a 2 pole switch and short the non-reading position (a blip but not too long)

Thank you! I'm supposed to give a labview lession this week. I'll have to search through there for ideas.

Also, about cheap lab view:

" for personal education use only", it has some annoying overlays in various screens that say "student edition", but I don't think theres any other serious limitations. Not bad for 70 bucks IMO.

BTW, I've been looking at some of the APIs for the NI DAQ boards. It looks like they have some pretty cool .NET stuff. Anyone have any experience with that?

Like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7547953083&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1)? :p
the words fall like gold from the lips of BillA (thanx for the recommendation Bill ;))

my main problem this minute is that 7701 doesnt have Cold Junction Calibration
and I have no clue about cabling issues with the Dsubs been reading up on
Isolation (http://www.sensorsmag.com/articles/0900/60/main.shtml), Signaling (http://www.keithley.com/data?asset=4458), Shielding (http://www.analog.com/UploadedFiles/Application_Notes/41727248AN_347.pdf), Remote CJC (http://www.analog.com/UploadedFiles/Application_Notes/34661261AN369.pdf)

as far as Thermocouples go Im getting a CJC enabled modual I guess

Ideally Id want a 7708 40-Channel w\ CJC and a 7705 Control Modual
and sell the 7701, but realistically I'll probably have to buy a 7700 and then upgrade eventually

integration with LABview will wait till I get the basics down

nice
endless ways to run at it

how are you going to take the fan inlet air temp ?
the spec calls for 1 TC in each quadrant 1/2"max back from the blade midpoint (8 for 2 fans)
I 'presently' use 2 ss sheathed RTDs only and average their range

I see the vanished PM resolved itself

Have four keithley DMM 2k on the lab, gpib to labview (something similar, billA's)
mainly for school projects (or random trolling if they're available :) )
but it's way more expensive to set up than a resonable daq card, not everybody is willing to drop 1000 bucks on that.
If you can then gopher it.
