Hi, I was wondering if I can peltier cool
my T-bird 1ghz with my 462 heatsink.
If so how much watts do the peltier need?
I was thinking about a 156w/16a pelt with
an Enermax, 431 Watt psu.
Thanks
Espen

UTFS: peltier + heatsink + tbird == bad....

hell it might work... I'm assuming you have something like a delta screamer on the 462... but chances are the 250W of heat would just be too much
To really see a benefit you'd have to keep the heatsink down to about 60C, that'd have your cpu a couple of degrees above ambient, to keep 250W of heat at that is going to need a HSF capable of 0.14C/W... which is a bit more than most get (.2-.3 is nearer the mark).

The mc-462 registers a C/W of .16 in most tests I've seen. Providing the ambient was low enough, you'd see a limited benefit in using a peltier. If you're going to go to those lengths though, may as well go the next step and watercool the pelt.

hmm .16... I reckon about 5C improvement with the peltier... not really worth it...
