I have just updated my Dell 705N from 64 MB to 256 MB. Under "debug memory" only 128 MB show up. I have included the results of "debug memory":

System has been configured!

The ram card is a kingston kvr133x64c3l/256 (256mb low profile pc133 dimm cl3). The 705N is running 3.4.790 (SW), 2.2.1 (HW Revision), Server # 508350, Bios 2.4.437.
Why is not all of the 256 mb showing up? Any tips?

Thanks
Nick

Snaps have been know to this too. Is the ram single or double sided?
The 2 sided has worked best.
Any way you will need to find another ram stick, it you want 256meg.

It sounds like you have a high density 256 MB stick...you need to locate yourself a low density 256 MB stick for the snap to recognize all 256. I had the same problem with mine.

Thanks for the tips. Three questions:

How do I recognize high or low density sticks?

It sounds like you have a high density 256 MB stick...you need to locate yourself a low density 256 MB stick for the snap to recognize all 256. I had the same problem with mine.

Is a single sided stick high density and a double sided low density?

Snaps have been know to this too. Is the ram single or double sided?

Any RAM recommendations (Maker, Typ- or Partnumber, etc.)?

Thanks for the help

Yeah, single sided is high density

As more in a smaller area = higher density

I was able to give the first ram back to the dealer and have now tried the whole thing with Kingston ValueRAM: KVR133X64C3Q/256 - ValueRAM SDRAM PC133 256MB.
It's working fine.
Thanks for the help.
