(note the "grease monkey" comment, about how hardware is better than a tweak!)
They took a P4, 3.06, a couple of Vapochills (no details) and OC'd the SOB to 4.2 (temp -25 C), at which point, the heatspreader seperated, and the core overheated and cracked.
Hum... heatspreader...

These types of “record setting” events are intended for the community as a way to showcase YOUR achievements, not large hardware sites and corporations

I have to say, though, I would have never thought about expantion/contraction dammaging the CPU in that way...

How can the core overheat at - 25 C. Must be one of those new cpu that operate at -100 C to - 15 C any thing hotter would cause the heat spreader to ..........
CPU's and Mullet Rage just dont mix I guess :p

I wonder if Intel is getting irritated at all these "Intel Confidential" 's winding up toasted or in the belly of an iguana. At this point, I think it's safe to assume that TUI (Testing Under the Influence) is SOP at OCP.

As someone who can't afford to upgrade his celeron 466@525, I find that completely f**ked.
How bout intel sending a nice 3.06 P4 my way? I can promise that it won't be going into the hands of a slack jawed yokel like the gayOCP crew :D
