Here's a leaked page (http://www.gzeasy.com/itnewsdetail.asp?nID=7998) with some tests (Japanese).

That would be good news for the market indeed.

One thing though...

The KT400A dos not contain a PCI/AGP lock...which is preferede by powerusers. Those whould be about the same persons who writes in forums like this one.

Dont know about a 1/7 divider though

1/6 and now 1/7 would be required, indeed!

Here's hoping they're not going to flub it this time...

Hard to know what's going on there.

Given that the KT400A is meant to support DDR400 operation, were the benchmarks all done at the same memory speed? Timings? It'll be nice if Via did squeak out an extra 1-2% in performance, but we've all seen these sorts of marketing tricks from them before.

Um, without Hypertransport the board's PCI bandwidth is lessened, and it doesn't support Dual DDR lowering memory bandwidth. Combine this with a lack of PCI locks ... yeah, I don't see it happening.

Details (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=8220) slowly emerge...

"...because of its FastStream64 Memory Controller technology which, it says, "uses an expanded array of prefetch buffers to reduce latency in the memory controller, extending performance without the extra cost of the twin memory modules that are required by dual channel DDR chipsets. "

"The company says the Apollo KT400A supports DDR200/266/333/400 SDRAM memory and a full range of 200/266/333MHz processor bus Athlon XP and Duron processors. "

Well, call me skeptic, but they didn't mention the PCI divider...

I think it's still too early, given that the test boards out there are pre-prod.

Some more "preliminaries":

A bit of a dissapointment.

Via KT400A won't support 400 FSB Bartons (http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article3.asp?datePublish=2003/03/19&pages=04&seq=21).

but on the plus side, there will be a KT600 (aka KT400A-CE)
