They are offering them at this price at: www.accupc.com

First price I've seen on this new chip. Much more aggresive on the price than they were on the first Batons. Also explains the sudden steep drop in prices in the last week on Bartons.

Expect a paper launch first :(

I know many people that will not be upgrading to a Barton. They're waiting for the 64-bit AMD chips.

I'm waiting for the Athalon 64 myself, but for a differant reason. I figrue even the highest clocking Bartons will be discounted big time after the 64's releasse.

I'm going to build one last socket A system and make it a real fast one. By the time I want/need a differant system the new 64 bit stuff should be out in good numbers and more reasonable prices.

Edit: Before the big price drops on the other Bartons in the last week I'd have expected a paper launch as you say. I don't think they would have discounted the other Bartons so much if the Barton's with the 400 fsb wasn't ready to go.

Guess we'll see soon.:D

I'm waiting for 90nm Hammers, myself ... 90nm Hammers that can be run dually, if such a hack will be possible. Then all shall phear the sexual powers of my GOD MACHINE.

What disturbs me is that the R400 will be exclusively PCI Express ... since the Hammers run the hypertransport bus it will be interesting to see if I will be able to find a hybrid board that uses PCI Express. A 90nm Hammer/R400-450 combo would be wicked.

has AMD even officially released this chip? I know that Intel released Canterwood with 800MHz FSB and 3.06GHz.

PCI Express is the larger PCI standard right? PCIX or something.
