this shouldn't be called lapping, it should be called for what it is: how to get a mirror shine on your HS. feel free to judge how accurate their before - after temps are.

on the money jd
we use a Lapmaster with a 48" platen
almost always subsequent hand work will degrade the flatness
it takes an expert touch

do a search for N8 (the expert)
my comments are generally in the same thread
and overclockers has the same info

totally agreeing with you.
How to get a well done lapping without a flat surface ?!

this heatsink shines, but with a perfect flat surface, t° would be better than it...

does someone think like me ?

/me did not read the text... But they did lap the heatsink correctly... I just saw the cleaning of the heatsink, which is not on a flat surface, and made me wrong :D

It's doesn't mean I think mirrored heatsink perform better than other ;)

I started to post in their comments. But could not make it civil. The author replied with a comment:

Wonder what method? Optical flats would suggest otherwise. Wish he'd show us (wait no I dont) :D

doubtless checked the curve of the reflected moon,
the instrument is a moonshine reflector, adapted and calibrated of course
you can see little houses where they keep these tools (the cresent on the door)

no wait - Jupiter
it is bigger so he'd have more accuracy that way

I could write a big rant, but I have done that several times on dfferent forums and I am tired of doing it.
