One of the reasons I was making scripts to move logs around on the server when I killed it on Monday morning was to try and rectify a weird crashing thing the server has going on (no sign of any issue in any logs, but the server just goes away ... you can ping it but no httpd/ssh2 anything... )
So in the next week or 2 I am looking at getting the HD replaced on the server and a new version of the server OS and some other work. This may result in a days worth of downtime, but as you saw with Monday's unexpected server downing, I'm able to get the server back in no time at all. (and now I have made backups even more sure fire.)
