CPU temp LED

I just got an AMD 2200 processor and went to build my new pc. I set everything up accorcing to what the manufacturers say the machine can handle. I turn it on for the first time and it shuts down 2 seconds later and the CPU temperature LED light comes on. The fans and everything came with the case and motherboard and it also advertises that it can handle this processor. I am confused in why it would say that it can handle it when obviously it cannot. The manufacturer has been little help and thought maybe someone here could help me with any ides or suggestions.

First off, which mobo are you talking about?

It's the AMD XP 2200+ 1.8Ghz

not quite sure on the motherboard since I do not have it in front of me at the moment. Here is a the link to the website that gives all the specs I could find.

Obviously what's happening is that the motherboard detects a heat overload, and shuts down, but that's rather quick (2 seconds), so I'd suspect a fault.

The obvious first step is to double check if the heatsink is mounted properly (or in this case, a heat-pipe).

For those that may have more info, this is the Shuttle SS40 barebone kit.

The Shuttle website has a FAQ about the SS40, but I didn't see anything usefull.

Might want to make sure that there is a fan with rpm sensing plugged into the CPU fan header on the motherboard. Sounds like the bios option for shutting down when fan dies to me.
