Maze3 modding
 

Just out of interest, if you lot were to mod a maze3, what would you do do it?

I would start off by lapping the base, and adding dimples to the area above the core, but some people i spoke to said they would remove the fin in the center, but it thought this increased the surface area of the block.

I will be modding mine before i fit my new barton, so any suggestion and reasons would be cool:)

I'd nozzle the center inlet, and decrease the baseplate thickness.

Best bet would probably to have an incoming jet on either side of the center fin, for an inpingement effect on the bp, then the center fin.

The rest of the fin pattern is mostly irrelevant, so I might cut some off to facilitate the flow.

Sound good m8, i was planning on decreasing bp thickness, but the jet idea sounds good, hmmm.

So would just dimpling the inside below the inlet not give a performance increase at all?

I'd remove all the fins, and turn it into a Cascade block ;) ...

Seriously though for 'easy' modding, I'd just remove all the fins and put in a 1/8 central inlet. basicly turning into a BillA style(see his homemade block testing at overclockers.com[not the p0rnsite ;) ]) open~plan swiftech style block. Dimple the middle and get some basic impingment value out of it's piss~poor design :) ...

Couldn't you just solder a washer on the inlet barb to create a jet?

*shrugs* I had a look at the block and there is not much you CAN do.... well at leats not much when you acces to tools is somewhat limited.

Maybe, but it might be easier to fasten that plate on top of the center fin:shrug:

just putting a washer on the end of a barb is going to be the worst solution from a standpoint of flow resistance.
