Help with Radiators
Hello.
i need some help with which radiators i shall buy. the problem is that i cant fitt a 2*120mm in my case. i have a compucase s411 http://www.mtg.co.jp/images/S411.jpg http://www.mtg.co.jp/images/S411-01-400.jpg It haves 2*80mm fan space in the rear, 1 80mm + 2*120 mm in the front. For my rig i will have to get 3 120mm radiators. 1 in front + 1 80mm micro radiator and 2 in the rear. im thiking of buying 3 Stealth GTS 120 Black Ice and 1 Black Ice Micro is the radiators good enough for my 2 HD2900XT, 1 Q6600 and nor+southbrige, hdd and the potential transformer. and will the preform even if the ondly have low noice Nexus fans? |
Re: Help with Radiators
if you cut the bottom you can fit a 2x120 or 3x120 I bet. There is a dual 80mm i think also

u can cut the top also
easily gives room for 2 2x120 rads or 1 3x120 i'm using 2 BIX220s |
Re: Help with Radiators
No i cant fit a 2x120 rad in the top if i want space for my DVD and pump.
I can fit a Black Ice Stealth X120 in the bottom and dont los any PCI space. But the big questions is is the Black Ice Stealth good enough and how mutch flow resisten is it going to be with 3x120 an a 1x80 radiator? |
Re: Help with Radiators
your cooling what looks like a few hundred watts of heat so I'd do the modds you need to atleast have a total of 3 120s. That can be a 240 and a 120, three 120s or a 360 but thats a lot of heat man and it needs to be removed :) just a 120 can't do it I dont think, hell I have two 240 rads on my quad and shes still a bit hot

maby if i switch places with the hdds and the place for the pump (hdd in the top 5,25 gage) i can fit a black ice 240 Xflow on the bottom. so a total of 2x120 1x240singel pass rad and 1 80mm. How about the pump? can a sigel D5 handel it or do i need 2? |
Re: Help with Radiators
Now that I think about it if you can do two 240s or a 240 and a 120 that would be best. three 120s or throwing in an 80 might just kill flow.

I can fit 1 240 xflow rad 2 120 and 1 80 I think the loop is goingto be. Pump -> Cpu -> 240 rad -> GPU 1 -> 120 rad -> GPU 2 -> 120 rad -> potential transformer -> southbrige -> northbrige -> HDDs -> 80 rad -> and back to the pump. Or loop2 (se picture) So you think the 80rad will kill the flow. the thing is that it fitts perfect between the 2 5,25 cages But the D5 pump is enough? |
Re: Help with Radiators
Well I think with the other rads the 80 is less important and might hurt more than help. if you wen't dual pump this would all be no problem. Maybe ask jaydee or jman (most active members I can think of right now)

Re: Help with Radiators
i remember the stats on the 80mm BIpro rads and especially the single 80s had an insignificant heat disipation
the 80 will have a higher flow restriction also consider that every 90 degree turn in your loop is equal to about 6-10 feet of straight hose and that double pass rads contain 2 90 and 1 180 degree turns and that the 80 is much narrower than the 120s you should get the best results from the 120s and bigger is better 1 320 should perform better than 1 220 & 1 120 when flow restriction is considered i haven't been following pumps lately but last i had heard the MCP355 was a great pump with a lot head and very quiet when you add the after market delrin top you get more flow and almost as much head i think this pump is in a similar price range as the D5 which if i remember correctly also sells as the MCP655? also adding a 2nd pump may not increase performance as the heat dump from the pumps is doubled and the cooling efficiency is fairly constant at all flow rates (it does increase but not significantly so) it would help if you told us what your goals are cost and price range? OC potential? noise tolerance? normal best case is pick 2 :dome: j ps it would be best to route your cooling loop with as few bends and the shortest possible length of hose you can use there are many many posts on this site explaining why rad location in the loop has little affect on the temps of the component following it skip the HDD cooling; get an ultra quiet fan blowing on the drive and run it at 7v and you will be happier |

Yea the 80 rad is not a realy good idea
I have done 2 posibel rad setups. setup 1 have 1 240 singel pas and 2 120 2 pas rads. setup 2 haves 1 240 singel pas, 1 120 singel pass and 1 120 2 pas rad. (se pictures) The red is the MB, black fans, blue rads and pump brown. My goals is to have a super quiet computer. I have close to 0 intentions to OC and the priceing cant be to high. The MCP355 with Delrin DDC Pump Top locks realy intresting. My idea is to build a special "sound proof" box to have it in. I have a SAS 15000RPM hdd thats generates ALLOT of heat and noise. so i vill make somting like this for it. http://www.gtek.se/img_prod/IT501084_1.jpg Im thinking of setup 2 with MCP355 + Pump Top, Nexus fans and Tygon R3400 1/2in.
