I have my eye on some of the copper/brass radiators now that I started poking around on Transpro. A 27" long rad would probably not be too shabby for my peltier system (I bet I could go with quiet fans then :) )

Hummm... but they're going to be pricey, brand new.

Perhaps. I would assume that since radiators usually have glycol in them (at least in Canada) that they would tend to be a bit better preserved in a relatively new car?

I would need to find one totaled but not from a frontal collision I guess :)

Any chance for searching by using vehicle make/model/year?
I can search by heatercore ref number but not the other way round.
This is pretty essential (at least for me :D ).

You know, I thought of adding that feature, and found a host of reasons why it wouldn't be valuable. The primary reason is that nearly every auto parts website allows you to search for parts by vehicle. The secondary reason is that since we are trying to find a part by size so it can fit your case and you won't know the size of the core in a particular car ahead of time, it doesn't make much sense to do a reverse lookup unless you specifically know the size of a certain vehicle's core. If that was the case, though, you could look it up by size because you already know the dimensions.

If you need to look them up by vehicle, try some of the other commercial links listed in this topic and they all will have them arranged that way.

Hi, you have some good points.

But in the UK, all (I mean all) online auto parts sites, as well as eBay, only shows you, like, "this is a radiator for Toyota Corona MK2 1974 and it is only 10pounds".
And you think, "oh great! 10pounds only!" but then you begin to realise you don't know how big that is.

My hypothesis is that, people do not only find a part by size, but also find a part by price.
This is especially true in the UK as these things are very expensive over here, comparing to the US of A.

There are'nt many UK cars useing Cu/brass rads anymore. Older Fiesta's (apparently), Cavaliers and a few other vauxhall variants (Opel Cadets/Kadets)...

this lists most european makes of cars and the heater cores that go with them. if you look at the pictures in the odf you will see the rad type ra is copper and al is ali.
