And that is whith no peltiers on the CPU?
Woudn't you get way below zero if you could cool the pelts with chilled water? I was thinking I would do this with one 226W. pelt on the CPU and one ... or two 226 watters chillin the water. I would also be using 2 Black Ice Extremes with 2 Ehiem 1250. I was thinking of getting a aluminum block made specially for this ... would copper make a big difference for this? I did this mostly as an experiment... :) It's a lot of equipment and $$$ for what you get. Pelt chillers just aren't very efficient IMHO. You get a lot more bang (cooling) for your buck by mounting the Pelt onto the CPU (with a cold plate) and watercooling the hot side. Yes, if I was to cool the hot side of the Pelts with chill water then the cold side would go well below freezing. In final form, two auto heater core radiators with shrouds are a better choice (less expensive and greater surface area) than the two BIE rads I used. As I'm sure you already know, copper is much better at conducting heat than aluminum - so "better" yes. Enough "better" to offset the cost and hassle of machining... can't answer that for you. That's the main reason I went with two commercial waterblocks for the Pelt sandwich. Good luck, |

Nice frost Robotech. I'm sure my temps were pretty similar then, since my system is almost identical to yours except for having larger radiators.

WOW .....
So those 220W peltiers seem to work pretty damn well at 12 v... I had to chill this Drift0.8 on 12v down to a liquid temp of +1ºC to get that -31 reading... ok well it was with a massive open copper block on the cold side too, fully exposed to 22ºC ambient... Sweeeooo.. I feel better again... :D allmost got a little bit worried there.... :rolleyes: |

Why did you use an AL coldplate? Or is that copper coated with something? Is the setup noisy?

i didnt have a thermal probe or anything to measure water temps / cold plate temps or anything, but i can tell you my tongue hurt for awhile? why? just cause i felt like licking it even tho i knew i shouldnt have....
