Ah! Video Card HSF plastic push pin broke!

Dammit.
Where can I get two of those tiny plastic push pin thingies that are used to keep the HSF in place on a video card?
I can't find them anywhere, including MicroCenter, Compusa, The Web, and about any other store around where I live.
Any ideas?

Buy a Termatake Blue Orb cooler for $8 and use the metal ones they have in the kit. Or better yet, just use the Blue Orb with the clips :)

How ironic this is.

Sorry, but I didn't mention that I have the blue orb, and that's the reason I need the push pins so that I can put it onto my graphics card.

The blue orb came with a lot of nice push pins, but my mom, of course, had to throw them all away like she does with everything else that I own.  !

So that's my situation. I have a blue orb that just screams to be put onto a PNY GeForce 3, but at the same time I don't have any push pins because they were thrown out.

why don't you use themal epoxy to glue it on?

babybunny 06-12-2002 02:07 PM

Do you think I should?
I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure if I'm going to put a waterblock on it in the future.
And even if I don't, I could screw up in the mounting process and end up messing up my temps. Then I would be really screwed.

See if you can find a replacement here:

you could see if a hobby store had some nylon bolts

I think I'm gonna end up zip tying it. But its gonna be a modified zip tie with two heads so that it doesn't have to wrap around anything.

jtroutma 06-13-2002 11:22 PM

Just use 4 regular zip ties then.

Put two through the holes in Blue Orb, through the card, so the tabs pull the orb towards the card. Then take the two other zips and slide them down other the zips that are going throught the card and tighten them up from the back. Then cut off the excess plastic from the ties.

Did that make sense?

Yeah, I've done it before. Works pretty damn well too.
