AveMORphine`s Rev1

First try, made from 0.5mm kopper plates and 8mm plexi (akrylic).

They do not perform well (major understatement :p).

I`m working on Rev2 now

Any comments on my "Snowflake"? Got the idea from the site title. :)

p0stman 07-11-2004 05:30 AM

Here I show the last blocks I made.
The insides of the cpu and chipset/vga blocks are the same, only differ in size.
The material of the top is Acetal, and the base/top is sealed with an O-ring.
The pics of the base:

And few images of the blocks mounted (cpu, nb and vga respectively).

Captin Kirk!!!! We need more water for the Warp Drive!!!! :D
Gotta build the saucer section next :p

The passages through the block contain spiral lengths of 18 gage copper wire for turbulance. It still needs a good lap job.

Yes it is. They are brass screws, screwed to the base and then soldered. I then chopped them down to size. I would've prefered to keep the entire setup out of copper but I don't think there is such a thing as "copper" screws.

MMZ_TimeLord 07-22-2004 12:42 AM

Actually there are... most power rooms for various communications and industrial systems use copper "bolts" and "nuts" and "washers". Not sure about machine screws, but I bet they have those too. :D

Getting closer every day!

Finally got my NB and GPU blocks done. They are simple "S" channels with lengths of copper wire wrapped in a slow spiral for turbulance. got the mounting brackets done for the CPU and the GPU, but for the NB, I need to pull the moboard and measure the holes. I also found some cool quick disconnects at Home Depot for the main lines between the boxes. :D :D :D

More pics @ H²O-Cooling Project

In the mean time also made a waterblock for NB and GPU, but haven't got pics yet :)

Built this last summer. Went off to college, so I didn't get it installed til this year. Doesn't look that good, but keeps it down around ambient+4-5C. Not bad. Wish I could have gotten my fins on the botton plate smaller/more dense, but thats the best I can do with my manual hand mill. Im jealous of you guys with the CNC mills :)

Heres my chipset block. Very cheesy. Its just a crossed drill block... Water comes in one way, out the other. There arn't any fins or anything fancy. We'll see if it works or not.

Sorry for the blurry picture. Hehe, camera doesn't like micro stuff.

RedPhoenix 08-20-2004 03:00 PM

Okay here is my very first block. Its my NB block

Sh*t, tell me what it is... I do not know either :)
I got it from a friend :) They use it in the factory where he works. it's like some... euhm... shit don't know the english word, but they make boxes with it...like hard paper, sh*t I do not know how it is called.
Anyway, it's like that, and there's like... plastic or something on the side. Anyways, it's very leakproof and is easy if your surfaces aren't completely smooth...
But you could easely use some rubber, or if you don't need to tear it appart anymore, better use some silicone. I trust that more than anything else ;)
Why? Check my site, you'll know why :p My rad is lik more silicone than alu :p:p:p

btw, can we post our evaporatorblocks here to, would be cool to see some of those designs to, or is there a topic on this forum for that purpose???

grtz, Da_Priest

man i havent been here in aaggees... this is my crappy computer with my dodgy watercooling stuff heh.. i dont have a pic of the cpu block when it was off the computer but anyway...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...hris/case8.jpg

the cpu block is an ol' thermaltake heatsink basically..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...hris/GPU08.jpg

the GPU block seems to have gotten the name 'the coaster' with a couple of my mates cause i actually made it out of a coaster lol, just the plastic bit, it was a solid piece of plastic but i bored it out on the lathe

the hard drive block ahh... hmm if ya wanna look at that go umm here... http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=13393&
when i made them i had 2 drives but ive gotten rid of them and chucked in a samsung 120gb one, i dont store much on this computer and its PLENTY of room

my computers basically designed around being silent, i dont have any pics but i have 2 pretty big radiators that will run passively pretty good as long as the computer isnt under full load for a long time. i did it like this so i can have my computer on doing stuff while i sleep :p

the only fan is the PSU fan which ive modified ( http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=13931 )
