Big Duct for HSF
Hi all!
I just had a thought. In an effort to reduce the HSF's weight, what if the fan were taken off and replaced with a duct which connects to a blowhole with a 120mm fan at the top of the case. Does this seem like a good/bad idea? |
This what you're talking about?
http://www.tgghaus.com/webmasta33/images/ductinside.jpg I'd post that image, but it's 1200x1024. And I don't know how to shrink images with vB code or whatever that stuff is..... |
not quite, but very similar. I was thinking that the duct should be physically attached to the heat sink (probably using screws to hold the duct down to the heat sink), and the duct would probably be flexible like dryer vent ducts.

what about one from the fan inlet point about the atx i/o panel? like what you see on Dells?
|
I've never seen what the inside of a Dell. What does the duct look like?

hardwarecentral has an article on one, it was posted fairly recently
