Mounting Heatercore 2-304, in a Chieftec DA-01 case
1 Attachment(s)
In the pic below, you see the 6 by 8" core, and the 6 * 8" opening in the back of the case. The normal PSU mounting plate has been conveniently removed. Note how it doesn't line up properly, because the crossbar is in the way.

So of course I set out to notch the cross bar:

Here's the mounted core, with the tie-wrap arrangement I mentionned earlier. All I have to add now, is the insulation tape, for a soft (rattle free) and sealed mount. Oh, and the shroud of the blower, of course...;)

Nice case mods bigben2k, Where is the power supply located at?

I finally got around to building a shroud, out of fiberglass, for the replacement blower.
I opted to turn the blower 90 degrees inside the case: It sucks in air from the front, and blows it down at a 45 deg angle, free flow, so the shroud redirtects the airflow behind the motor. Here's a pic of the foamcore assembly, used as a shape for the fiberglass: http://www.wbta.us/bigben2k/Shroud.jpg Still runs fine at 5 volts, and "quiet enough". |
What car is that core from BB2K?
Just wondering, since i want want pretty much like it, and they donĀ“t use fedco nr around here :) Or if would be really nice, tell me one that is copper and takes 2 120mm fans on it and still can fit inn top of the same case you are using :D I know that was a lot too ask! Thanx P |
As the title says, it's Fedco #2-304. Do you want a list of cars for it?

Nice work mounting the heatercore, I was thinking of doing something similar with my PC70 a while ago and relocating the psu, but I think what I have in mind will work a little better for me. Regardless, nice work. I am eager to see how your fiberglass shroud turned out.

Here's the first part of the shroud, completed. Note the tabs for mounting on the blower.

I almost forgot that I had this pic! Here's the blower, propped up in the final position:

Thats sweet dude

So Ben, do you lose your 'theoretical' status now that you show progress, or not until it's complete? ;D
|
Nah, I'll hold on to it until this whole water cooling rig is up and running.
The way things are running at home these days, it could take a year! |
