The quest for ever increasing flow and pump efficiency has led me this, yes folks, that's one inch tubing and fittings:eek:

With 2 meters of 1 inch tubing I actually get the rated max flow rate from my pump! (2800L/H, 744GPH) The 90 degree elbows do hurt flow a little but are a necessary evil given how stiff 1 inch pvc tubing is, can you get tygon in 1 inch?

now all I have to do is make the block to suit:cool:

those fittings can very easily be 1" in diameter....

Yeah, of course you can. It can be bought in sizes up to 2"x2.5" from the supplier that we use in our lab, and there may well be sizes larger than that even. For the 1" ID Tygon there are a few choices, 1"x1.25", 1"x1.375" and 1"x1.5". Only problem is, this stuff goes from ~$500-1100CAD for a 50' roll of the stuff (and I doubt that anyone will buy what you don't use). Perhaps if you want tubing this large you should look at Nalgene.

How powerfull is that pump you have there?

It's rated at 2800L/H and 2.5m head, and get's almost exactly that through the 2 meters of 1 inch tubing, it drops to around 2400L/H with the single elbow feeding the whirlpool.

Though I thought that your pump was rated higher than mine...

That is frickin' tight, man! All you need now is to hook that up to a 10' tall cooling tower (string it outside and scare the neighbors) and you'll be set. Heh ...

Quick hook it up to a water block. Oh sorry there aren't to many people besides me playing with blocks that have that size of fittings and mine are mostly 5/8 not 1 inch. still it would be cool to see if it affects your cooling any. I've got a 740gph pump comming to play with myself.

Which pump did you get?

It's called the via 2600. On some sites I see it listed at 740 and on another site it's listed at 950. Noot sure which is acurate but if I shoot low and it's better well so be it. I can get upto 1200gph pumps. but i was kind of looking at not getting any bigger than the ehiem 1250 in size and the 1200gph pump may be a little bigger.

Yeah, mine is rated at 4315L/hr zero head 1" fittings, its rating at 6' verticle rise is 2400L/hr. It's max head is 15 feet.
You're not rising much in the pic, about two feet tops with the 6 feet of tubing, correct?

It came with a neat little chart, lets see, all with 1" fittings,
0 =1140gph
1' = 943gph
2' = 830gph
3' = 752gph
4' = 724gph
5' = 656gph
6' = 640gph
7' = 613gph
conversion factor for liters is .2642

Yea, I'm only at 1.5-2 feet of head there, the flow drops off pretty quickly if I lift the hose all the way up, I'll have to be aware of that when I put it into action.

Started on my 1 inch block, I'm using the base from the dual 1/2'' block and I've drilled a 1/2'' hole right where the core contacts the block, I've then inserted a truck load of thin copper wire untill the hole was packed solid, then soldered it up.

the last pic shows the wire all in position with the partially finished top of the block.

Flow testing the block, It gets just over 2000L/H, me very happy:D

hopefully I can get it lapped and ready to install tomorrow night.
