Pump

Bought this Maxi-Jet pump on Ebay the other day only because I couldn't pass up the price.

Reservoir arrived last week

Still need some 1/2" fittings to convert the WB and Eheim. Need to find someway to piece together a mounting mechanism for the WB. Need to figure out a way to wire the Scoops fans since I only have a couple of inches of bare wire. Need to cut some holes in the case and figure out where I'll put everything. Need some window kits, CC, fans, etc.

Anything else I've missed???????

Tackle for holddown is easy. Print this list up and go to the hardwarez store:

4x long skinny steel bolts (measure your boltholes on your board so the threaded part will fit through with a bit of room to spare).

8x plastic/nylon washers for that size bolt

4x springs, medium tension, not too much bigger than your bolt, though bigger sizes will work

4x gnurled knob nuts or wing nuts to secure it

8x big ass washers (bigger in diameter than your spring by over 1/4")

This will total cost you about $5.

Wrap the bottom inch of the bolt in duct tape to prevent it from contacting your mobo.

Put it on the board in this order (back to front) with the bolt in the middle (duh):

nylon washer
mobo
nylon washer
lexan top of waterblock
big washer
spring
big washer
nut

Do it like that, and tighten the thing down until it wont move on your die (side to side and up/down), and then tighten a little more. If the springs are too pussy, they'll collapse completely. If they are too strong they'll crush your die. Get them so you can comfortably squish them in your hand, but they still give good resistance. If you have to strain, they are too tough.

My $0.02.

Thanks airspirit! I owe you bigtime! Off to get the parts and hose. I suppose Home Depot for starters.

I recommend getting the reinforced as opposed to the regular vinyl tubing.... It aint pretty but regular vinyl tubing is very bad as it kinks way to easy and might even collapse under too much pressure or if the water gets too warm

Thanks for the info...since I have to order some more things to make this rig complete I'll order some Tygon 1/2".

airspirit 11-15-2002 05:24 PM

NONONONONO! NO NO NO!

Get Clearflex 60 from Cooltechnica. In Pro/Deals, they have it 50% off for us, which means $0.75 per foot!!! Tygon is three-four times that and is the same thing! Save money! Buy beer! Save whales!

bigdawginva 11-15-2002 05:31 PM

LOL...ok...done!

Thanks!
