Easiest, Cheapest Tube Lexan Reservoir Ever
 

Hi,
i noticed lots of threads where people trying to make a tube reservoir don't know where to find the actual tube for it. I know there are some plastic sources online but they charge $30 per tube. That's insane.

So i decided to share the way i was making reserviors for my systems:
I'm a "backpacker for life" so i'm familiar with Nalgene bottles which are made from Lexan (totally crashproof, easy to drill, Don't chip or crack at ALL) and come in a veriety of different colors (some of which are UV reactant).

There are:

There are more colors (at other stores) if u just "google" around OR you can find an almost CLEAR one if u really need it.
But i like buying colored ones since u can match it with your color of additive. Plus some of them are UV reactant which makes them even so cooler.

These look GREAT, Easier to work with than Acrylic Tubes, and are CHEAP.

What's the thickness of the sides?

Just cut a non-threaded hole and use the nut on the backside (seal with flat rubber washers, gasket material, teflon paste, whatever...

Is the barb size on that site OD or ID?

AFAIK barb sizes are always listed as the ID of the tubing intended to fit over the barb. Actual max OD of the fitting appears to vary between manufacturers with (in my limited experience) the Eldon James single barb being the largest diameter.
I know EJ makes some barb-to-threaded-fittings that are straight cut (not tapered) and I would guess you could get a 5/8" barb x some (probably US "coarse") thread - which would leave you looking for a non-corrosive nut of that diameter/pitch. Might be worth searching this site and mcmaster. Mcmaster has a wider variety of EJ fittings (not labeled as such - mcmaster likes to "hide" the supplier/manufacturer name) but
1) expect to search
2) expect to have to buy at least 10
It's the only place in the states I've been able to find the EJ BSPT fittings...
