New Swiftech MCX-159 chipset heatsink

I am sure it is a great chipset air cooler, but when I look at that thing I can only think of other uses for it.

well you already know how its big brother works
be hard to go beyond it, I've flogged it pretty hard

How hard have you flogged it?

Since the cooler is really for an A8N-SLI, how high have you taken the FSB with it and had absolute stability? I know it depends on the motherboard, but how much heat are the NF4 chips producing at various FSB speeds? If anyone has quantified it, I bet you have.

sorry, never tested anyrthing on a board

I wouldn't assume it was for the ASUS. The picture on the site has text below it stating: "Example of installation with the Asus A8N-SLI and 2 VGA cards".

I would think they used controlled heat source to do the real testing being the thing will be on dozens if not 100's of various mother boards.

Would be interesting to know what wattage range they designed it around.

~30W 'rating' @ 60°C with the stock fan
the C/W drops as the load increases

I have the earlier model with aluminum pins. You really can't appreciate this cooler from pictures alone. When you pick it up, you realize how much went into such a compact, high performance unit. Even though the fan is practically inaudible, I would think you would be hard pressed to find any rig that couldn't be cooled by this little gem. I had to do a small mod to the rods attaching my DD Maze 4 GPU block to an ATI x800 XT PE. One of the rods runs into the NB cooler. I shortened both rods and now no clearance problems. My only regret is I wish I would of waited a little longer as the new pins would have gone really well with my brass top DD TDX. As usual, Swiftech did a fantastic job.

I found some photos. By the way, if you shorten the rods, you can still use the DD acrylic rear brace(keeps your video card from bowing when you attach a water block).

from what i can see, i suppose the rods arent helicoid anymore, but are instead styled in the same direction of hte retro MC series?
