My dad said he might get one to have around the house, and I'm wondering if it would handle copper if I went in nice and slow.

Yeah, I got the same one just under a different brand name. Works ok. Just use short stubby drill bits so they don't flex and drill slow with WD-40.

Awesome, thanks.

They tend to shake a lot when you get above 10mm diameter drill bits. Does work, but make sure you've bolted it down to a table nicely before hand ;)

Lol, alright. Is that just because it's only 1/3hp or what causes all the shaking?

SlaterSpeed 05-31-2004 10:30 AM

it shakes because the spindle speed is too high. Turn the speed down if you are using big drill bits :)

What Slater said and the spindle/chuck on mine is a little wobbly aswell. The bigger the bits the more effect the wobble has. These are not precision drill presses but they work fine.

Ok, awesome. Now, I just gotta convince my dad he needs this. :D

I have this drill press albit a bit older. The drill chuck is a tapperd shank and doesn't always get in properly thus a bit of a shake or wobble..you can actually center it with a dial indicator and a hammer ;)
