I have the 1048 Ehiem and the Aqua Via 1300--the specs have been posted but my 2 cents--the ehiem is twice as quite--the Via has a hum and a pretty good vibration to it. It is kind of hard to seal , so I will put some goop or sillicon on the threads when I put it in service. ( I bought the bare or box version) If you look at at the factory fittings, they all have a O-ring around the top and about (guess) 1/8 inch slick spot before the threads start. so store bought fittings don't have many threads to catch. Of course for it size and wattage it is a powerfull pump and a lot smaller than a 1048. Also a hell of lot cheaper. My .02
