When the HDs are in the drive bay they over laptop mobo by a little and the heatercore is a little longer them most hard drives so its not gonna fit. Also you want to put the heatercore in a place where the exiting hot air will leave the case right away and not be putting all that heat right back into the case to heat the other parts of the system.
