According the the tech support guy at Laing, the two-pin plug is for a capacitor or battery. In some installations such as a solar controlled pump a capacitor is need to "jump start" the pump.

I sent him a reply asking about the possibility of adding a tach wire so we can read the RPM of the armature. If/when he replies, I will post his response.

Until then, how do I determine which wire to splice into? There is a yellow wire which (so far and in my limited experience) has always been the color of the tach lead. I don't recall the other wire colors that I saw.
