Actually, the chlorine pucks are specifically made for septic systems: in fact, using pool chlorine voids the warranty, and they can detect it very easily.

The way that the system works, is that it has three tanks: the first to capture solids, the second as an overflow, and the third, which gets the chlorine, cleans up the bacteria that is no longer needed, and can now spray the lawn without the smell.
