Im having trouble mounting the drive in DD?

Im trying to follow the instructions, which doesnt mention mounting a drive.
IVe gone into network settings and i cant assign the PC an IP address. i do have dhcp on in the router, but even setting a static address doesnt seem to do anything.

Ive got to opening a terminal window and thats it. since im a linux newbie, could anyone shed any light on this?
