Looking at your dd cmds, where did you send the image file too. (OSX to local HD?)

use the shorter cmd "co de format 10000 /reint" and see what happens

What is the drive setup showing from the gui? Did you set the WD for single drive/Master.... Some drives seam to work with CS.
