That'c correct. Friction isn't a significant factor in laminar flow, but becomes significant with turbulent flow, i.e. reynolds # > 4'000. I don't know if you're actually going to achieve that though, you might want to run the numbers.

I don't see how a flow-bypass makes the calculation "non-critical", but you get the idea.
If you have a heatercore, you should substract it's curve from the pump's, and re-plot from there. Finding that info is the hard part, of course
but you can use BillA's "Surplus" core, from his roundup.
