A v2 should have 64meg of ram, where v1 were 32. From debug type memory?, and see how much it has. If it's only 32, v3.4.807 requires less ram. But if your image file is v4 you can not backup, with out a v3 image.

Remember mfg no longer check media. I would test the HD with SpinRite. It will examine the surface and build the bad table.
