SNAP with 2tb disk: RAID PROBLEM
Hello there,
I want to post an important information about problem we experienced here. First: a couple of month ago, we have upgrade our 3 snap 520 to lastest version of GOS 6.5.023 (I know here is a new upgrade now) After that upgrade, we have upgrade one of them with 4 x 2tb hd westerne digital black edition. Everything where running well for a couple of month. Few day ago, the snap frezzed and pull out the dirve 2 (bay 3) out of the raid. After many research and independant test on each hd without any result. We transfert avery thing in another snap and same thing. Just imposibble to run it with 4 hd into the raid set. The snap saw the hd, but just impossible to built a RAID with 4 hd. At the end, we have take carre of different error message the refere to unix (code back of GOS). After many research on the web we find the solution: We have run the drive at 6 gb/sec transfert rate. The original transfert rate was 1.5 gb/sec or 3 gb/sec into SNAP 520 (we have replace many drive into the original setup (250 gb / 500 gb) The solution is: USE JUMPER ON INDIVIDUAL HD TO SLOW DOWN THE TRANSFERT RATE. Into Westerne Digital you can fix a jumper in the back of the drive to reduce the transfert rate by half. So right now, we running it at 3 gb/sec instead 6 gb/sec and everything work fine. Our SNAP 520 internal 8 tb is back online. Hope it will help someone Last edited by kearmith; 05-15-2012 at 12:58 PM. |
