Default Drilling Black Ice?

Is it possible to drill mounting holes in the lower surface of Black Ice Extreme/Pro (and still be able to use the thing)? Does anybody know the internal construction?

why do you want to drill a hole in the tank?

as long as its sealed, methinks you can do it. its just a tank.

you can do that if you seal it well enough

Eh, I would practice drilling and sealing on some aluminum sheeting first however.

But I would seriously try to figure out alternate methods of attachment first.

oh, i didnt see that part. dont drill your tank if you want mounting holes LOL!! what you do is get thin bolts (like 4x32 or 6x32 thread size for standard thread, maybe 3-5mm for metric), and you just screw them thru the radiators fins. make sure the bolt its longer than the rads depth (1 1/2" is good, but see how long you need em).
you'll need to cut out a hole similar in shape to this:

Code:
        __________
  -->* /          \ *<-- holes where
      /            \        the bolts go
      |            |       through.
      |            |
      |            |
      \            /
  -->* \__________/ *<--
you then slide the rad (and the ends of the bolts) thru those holes, and tighten it down with a nut.

^^^ Be advised, I could only get 2 bolts through my BIX because they other two bolt holes didn't line up

But, two is sufficient, so long as you put some good nuts on the bolts!

you could also attach the BIX with elastics or make something with the wood off wine crates

wine crates?? lol

you could use zip-ties as well...

and if the bolt holes dont line up, just widen the holes somehow (it can be done, you figure it out). but 2 bolts should be ok hehe

Well, the project (a watercooling system built from scratch) is in its early planning stages. I want to make the system as quiet as possible. I plan to put the rad/fan to the "upper floor" of a big tower case and attach an exhaust air duct. The exhaust hole in the back panel does not have to be the exact size and shape of the fan/rad. Also, I want to cover all internal surfaces (the duct walls too!) with vibration- and sound- absorbing material. I hope this will be better noise-wise than the conventional "surface" placement of fan/rad. I am going to make a neat relay-controlled socket for the Eheim, but will I watercool the PSU? Not sure yet.

Any remarks/suggestions?

Use "L" brackets.

Drill out holes if the L brackets holds don't line up with the black ice holes, and then drill out holes in your case do drill in the L brackets.

It'd be a heck of alot easier, and probably more stable as well.
