Default my first go at hand milling

I don't think that this has turned out too bad for a first attempt at guiding my drill press around the block.
Just gotta get a piece for the top and solder it on.
Since I've been getting interested in water-cooling, I've noticed it becomes something of an obsession, I've got reams of paper all over the place full of doodles of my ideas.
If my money matched my ideas I'd be a very rich man

Cheers
Chris.

Nice. Is that copper?

You're well on your way, and I hope that you do finish it.

You'll need to measure the baseplate thickness: if it's around 10mm, then you'll want 100 gph effective flow. If it's 5 mm then you're going for 200gph. The latter will give you more cooling.

oh ya, you think you would be rich.....

I use AutoCAD for my ideas.... Just imagine......

looking good though, and don't be surprised if that block, for some strange reason, performs about 5 times as good as you would expect, looking at the unsmoothness of the channel, vs. those CNC made ones... you will be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the replies.
The drill size I used for the final pass was a 10mm (3/8") one, the copper block is 18mm (3/4") thick and I think at the bottom of the bore it's leaving a thickness of approx 5mm (3/16").
The first one I did was a drilled and plugged one, it's running now, so all I have to do is swap blocks over once I've got this one finished.
My systems been running overnight downloading some files and my temps are as follows :

Room = 23 C
System = 33 C
CPU = 38 C

So, if as you suggest I may even improve on my very first effort.
I've made mine so that everything except the water block is in a seperate box. Here's a picture of my setup at the moment.

Cheers
Chris.

Here's a picture of the insides of my box Since this picture, I've installed another 120mm fan, to give me more pulling power with less speed = even less noise.

Cheers
Chris
