How bad is this?
My head is starting to burst.
What does +/-(1%rdg + 3igits) really mean? What does 1C resolution mean? I thought I once knew this but not sure anymore... Pic below of the stats of the thermometer/multimeter I just bought. |

Don't take me to heart but.
1C Resolution I think means however accurate your sensors are you are still rounding up to "whole numbers" i.e. you cannot have 35.7*C it would become 36*C. the smallest denomiter between measurements would be 1*C. The other is to do with the margin of error and is worked out in a % rating of the temp rather than +/-5*C for example. At higher temps it would obviously be a higher %. You don't really need to know all this, you'll be working in temps of +/- 5*C anyway, opening a window could have a -5*C change in your systems so you cannot afford thsat much accuracy, you'll just want those figures to know how far you are from ambient and how you can improve it anything else... you don't need to care about the accuracy of your reading too much if they are in the right ball park then great. ~ Boli (Wishing he had done more maths in school) Last edited by Boli; 06-12-2003 at 03:26 AM. |
