Default Snap OS v.4 (snap server 1000)

Has anyone had a chance to try this. This would greatly increase the value of these old models as v.4 supports "active directory" and windows server 2003.

any feedback?

I recently purchased 2 Snap Server 4000's from an auction. I knew what i was buying but i sort of got screwed on the software. I need them desperately to run on an Active Directory domain with a Windows 2003 Server but i can't afford to shell out 699.99 for the OS v4. Can anyone help at all please? please? please? I am desperate and broke now.

Any info on dealing with the SnapServers 2200 series would be appreciated. I had one of a mirrored drive set fail. What a great system that won't let you access the remaining "good" drive........
Adaptec is a killer on thier support and repair costs and procedures.... $120 just to take a phone call.....

Default Snap0S v4 anyone ?

If anyone has a copy of SnapOS v4, can you please mail a copy to <the_apogee(at)yahoo.com>. I currently have v3 on a SnapServer 4100 and would like to upgrade it.

I just bought it used (4 x 30GB version), has reset the configuration to default, but cannot see it using SnapAssist 2.4. I also tried accessing through the browser using the default name http://SNAPxxxxxx where xxxxxx is the serial no. No luck. Any suggestions ?

Many thanks !

You need to spend some time reading through the forums (hacking the snap). Upgrades to snaps must be done in a specific sequence, failure to do so will make turn it into door stops. The 4100 also has hardware restrictions. SnapAppliance/Adaptec has a download section, but very limited. Check on poogles_uk site and threads (#551) for upgrade files. Assist is up to v4 now.

Good Luck

Just like everybody else, I need Snap OS v4.
xxx.SUP version is prefered so I can install it with the assist program.
please send either a functioning link/ftp address or the file itself to "bob at stufin.com" .

I just spent the majority of the day learning about my snap 1000, this file just might make it not a waste.

many thanks!!

Hate to burst your bubble. If it's not working correctly, an upgrade won't fixit. The only thing v4 does is allow large hd support if you have the proper version of BIOS and hardware.

YES and NO.

There has been some reports of the 4.0.860 make the 2000 run slow. The problem has been traced down to the early 27k units. Check your BIOS and HW and see if it greater than v2. It apears the units after that with 64meg ram have had no problems.

I do not recommend up grading the 2000 just to be upgrading. The 2000 stores the OS in flashram. Once you do an upgrade you can not backup. So if you have any problems your in trouble. The 2200 uses a std boot bios. This version can be reversed if there is a problem.
