Problem of filling the centre slug area of socket with conformal coating

Hi all

I am going to upgrade my water cooling system to TEC. What I am concerned is that by filling the slug area of socket with confornal coating, will the heat sensor within it be out of function? I am now using ABIT NF7-S V2.0. Can someone with the same board share their experience with me?

Sorry for my very poor English as I am Chinese in Hong Kong.

Cheers

Hi Alexwai

I have the same motherboard you have. I put on the center area of the socket silicone and over the silicone a fine layer of neoprene. The sensor is under all of this and obviously is not reading the right temperature of the CPU.
Intead of this sensor I put a thermocouple under core. In order to do this I had to use my dremel to make enough room on the socket to put it under the CPU.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a dremel so I can't mod the socket like you. Besides, I don't have the skill to do this.

no dremel required. Ginsu knife works great.

Both technics are risky, but I tried to do it with my dremel and fortunately I succeded the first time. You gotto have good pulse though.

Well, I hope you have success trying to do it either way.
