When I get some cash, all donations gratefully accepted

It'll probably be in a few weeks after I've mulled over the design a bit more. Also I left my 6mm copper plate in my parents garage so I'm out a coldplate right now, might try to find a local supplier of copper flat bar stock.

I finally got my stock in!!! Now to rework my CNC code for the Copper. It is much harder to mill out. But i was expecting that. Posted a pic of a copper block milled out on my website.

butch, there should be plenty of places around that supply copper bar.

jaydee, the copper version looks nice, have you tested it yet?

No I still need to get a 1/4" NPT tap. Then I will solder the top on and run it this weekend. While that is testing I will modify the CNC Code and try and make a few more. I want to send both versions out to Joe ASAP. I like his testing methods.

There are about 6 places here locally that supply Copper, but they don't stock it, so you have to waut for it to be shipped from their supplier. Usually takes about 3 days if all goes well. And they only sell by 12 foot sections only!!! So if you buy some you have to buy a lot.

If you are in a bigger City you should be able to find some in smaller sections. Hobby shops sometimes carry small amounts. Also the scrap metal recylcing places some times have some.

I chose your rad cause it's the biggest, and I figured butch would need one big rad due to his 2x 220w pelts.

12ft???? how do you transport that? LOL

Rad I'm getting a 5 buck 12x6 heatercore shortly, will mod on the barbs myself.

As for copper bar, yeah I can probably get it, it's finding a place that'll sell me less than half a ton of it as jaydee found - easy to get metal, hard to get small quantities :/

EDIT: just checked metalsupermarkets.com they have a store in the next city - 20 miles, that might be a possibility. Used them before, they'll cut metal to order and usually carry some stocks of copper though not much.

I can pay a lot less locally but I can't haul 12 foot long sticks. Once I get the truck completely rebuilt and a rack installed I will buy locally.

The cataloge I am pretty sure. My Copper block is not doing so well. .5C better than the Aluminum under same testing.

Yep, I mounted it several times. Even at different tightneses. Just isn't that much better. -.5C is the best I have seen. Just not worth it.

Yep, but that is their loss. Iam not making enough money on blocks to really worry about it. If they don't want Al they can pay over twice as much for Copper elswhere.

I never planed on making much money on blocks anyway.

Tomorrow. I already have them done. They are the Epoxied ones, but they should give the same results as soldered if I decide to go that way.

Yeah but i don't have enough room on the sides to properly seal it. i will not be able to get enough pressure in the center on the narrow sides. I mau have a workaround for this though if I can find a 1/16" end mill bit. I will just mill a channel down the middle of the 1/8" sides and fill it with silicone. That should do just fine I think. Got other projects going at the moment though.
