Got my A version hooked up. First setting was 12.5X for 1664mhz at 1.55Vcore and it booted into windows. Wasn't stable though. Bumbed up the Vcore to 1.75 and it is stable. Still at 133FSB so I have a ways of FSB to go but I am stuck at 12.5X for the multi. Board doesn't support bois multi adjust. Temps are good with my REV 2.0 block. Steady at 32C DF load with 18C room temp. This block is doing pretty good for what it is.

Glad to hear that you are fairing well with your chip and block Jaydee.
AS for myself, I am extatic that I was right when I suspected that the price drop that Newegg made was them getting rid of a different type of chip than the JIUHBs and when the price went right back up, they had the good ones back. (OR it chould have been pure luck on my part ) Wellllll.... I have yet to even put the JIUHB into my 8DRA+ yet. Mainly because I just found a great deal on a 5.1 Home Theater sound system and have been playing with that all night. Decided that I wanted a working machine tonight and I will deal with the frustrations (AND JOYS!!) of overclocking a new chip in a few days. I HAVE it now; its NOT going anywhere!!!!

Now at 1807mhz 12.5Xmulti 145FSB 1.75Vcore and stable with DF load. I am not disapointed at all now. Well worth the 46.99. My little REV 2.0 block is doing great with it. Stays under 35C load.

just got my chip from newegg a couple of days ago...
It does 2.1Ghz on the worst aircooling imaginable (thermalright CB6-L) not as fast as everyone elses, but sure makes me happy! |

@warpath
congrats on the worst aircooling/best overclock. very nice @jtroutma congrats on winning the 'chip lottery'. thats the newest chip date ive seen so far. (before that i had seen a 0301 somewhere) @jaydee glad you are having fun with your A. 1.8ghz is not something to be disappointed at. i was able to unload my A onto my cousin. he was in dire need to upgrade his little bro's 400 celeron for something more modern. i plan on ordering a B version from vibe ASAP.

I punched a JIUCB 1700+ to over 2250 on mediocre aircooling today at 1.8V ... it definitely can be done, even with the worse steppings. I ended up leaving it at 2.0Ghz for my customer, though, for longevity purposes ... still, not a bad chip at all.

nice ph!
Is that crucial or kingston? Is that the SLK800? what voltage is that at? Did you get newer week core or older week? mine is 0251, sorta old for newegg... was wondering if you got newer part from the northern US wastelands (locals call it ca-na-da) |

That is with 2 256mb sticks of Kingmax PC2700. It is right at its limit at at fsb. I got it into Windows at 185fsb, but I am getting lots of errors in programs like IE and Outlook express. This is the computer my wife uses, so I had to back it down to a fully stable speed (175fsb). If I get the energy I'll modify the 8K3A for higher multiplier adjust and see what happens. It runs CPUBurn no problem up to 185fsb, so I am pretty sure the limitation is the RAM or the PCI and not the chip itself. I wish I had some beefy ram and an NForce2 that locked PCI....

Update:
I finally got a chance to install that JIUHB and currently have it running 2250@180FSB, 1.85V. Temps were at 37C running Folding. I am pegged on the multiplier until I unlock the higher multiplyers and my board refuses to post over 180FSB. I figure that a NB Vmod is in order and some newer RAM before I can get any higher. Must say though, I am very happy with the performance. Gained 30FPS@1600x1200x32 in UT2K3. Unfortunately, after my latest purchase of a Yamaha 450W 5.1 Home Theater Sound System for my system, I am broke. Now I have to wait until I get a new job and play off some more credit cards before I can get the new RAM and shoot for 200+FSB.

just looked at overclockers.com....
they have a link to ExcaliberPC.com that has guaranteed xp1700 tbredB JIUHB 0302 for $56 USD with $4 flat rate shipping(located in Fremont,CA) and as already mentioned, Vibe Computers has xp1700 tbredB's JIUHB (previously JIUCB's) with unknown chip dates for $98 CAD / ~$64.50 USD with close to $10 CAD to ship to me, your mileage will vary (located somewhere in Canada) both places are offering xp2100 tbredB's for about double the xp1700 prices happy overclocking!

BrianW:
All the Tbred Bs are unlocked, but motherboards differ widely in how they handle the 5th bit (the 5th L3 bridge). Some won't boot with it open, some won't let you adjust multipliers if it is open but give you 5-12.5x if it is closed, and a few will set that bridge "LO" or "HI" in the bios and give you full multiplier range 5-24. People are having great luck with the dipswitches on the A7V/A7V-133 series, but ironically most Kt266A and KT333 boards are less multiplier adjust friendly. The problem for my Epox 8K3A is either in the northbridge or in the Bios multiplier tables, but Epox is pushing the 8K9A2 and the 8RDA as having multiplier control rather than providing a bios fix for the older board. If your board doesnt let you unlock higher multipliers you can always solder on dips or jumpers to do it manually... |

I am planning on getting a NForce2 board... do you know if that board allows for the multiplyer adjustment on tbreds?
Thanks, Brian W

im pretty sure it (8rda/+) does right out of the box. if not, i bet with a bios update will fix it.
anandtech did a huge azz review of 6 nforce2 boards here and the last paragraph: "It really isn't in the least that the 8RDA+ was the best overclocker out of our six nForce2 motherboards, as Epox has made much of their reputation on highly overclockable (and reasonably priced) motherboards. So, with the above configuration we were able to hit 194MHz FSB (multiplier set to 8X). On that note, it's worth mentioning that the 8RDA+ is yet another nForce2 motherboard that is able to adjust the Thoroughbred-B's multiplier without having to perform any physical modification to the CPU bridges as was the case with previous generation Athlon XP processors (namely the Thunderbird and Palomino processors). The 8RDA+ BIOS also comes with a ton of multiplier options ranging from 3X to 24X. These multiplier options should satisfy all users. " anandtech.com

The JIUHB is ok.
2 Ghz @ stock voltage. May need to raise the voltage 0.025 to insure 100% stability. Buning it at 1.8 Votalge no OC now. Maks temps with BurnK7 is 30 degree. |

Those JIUHB 0302 looks good too, I'm seeing them hitting about 2.4 - 2.5 with better cooling and between 2 and 2.1V.
Oh I forgot to mention that I hit 100% overclock with -7°C water And 2865 MHz benchable: My record PC Mark 2002 score is here http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm=1064200 Probably the highest straight water cooled overclock on AMD cpu. Now I'm also waiting for nforce2 to improve that 3D mark score a little

I just made an order online for some Corsair PC3500 C2 memory pieces so I can get rid of my 180FSB limitation. Hopefully I will be able to get around 210-220FSB with these.
One note about the 8DRA+, I tested it out last night and unless you physically mod the chip in some way, the max multiplier you can obtain without moding is 12.5x Tried 13x and the MB just went dormant for a few seconds and came back with 100FSB @ stock multiplyer. The board did NOT reset the BIOS, only put the chip in "safe mode" I adjusted the multiplier back down to 12.5x and it booted just fine @ 2250 once again.
