Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Oops. The 2200 has the os located on the HD. So it is possiable to transfer the OS files using DD. All data will be lost. But you still need to reolad the os to replace any help files that may be missing.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Not too concerned with help files. Is that the only reason to reload the OS after using DD ? As for data, the drives are clean so that is not a issue.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Using DD we really do not kow what is missing if any thing. But we have had reports that some help files were missing. Just precautionary. Or copy the whold drive but that takes way too long.
An easier way is to move one of the 805 drives over to the 803 - 2200 (master), remove both 803's. As long has it is in the master (Top) position it should boot from it. Then I would wipe the mbr on the older 803's and reinstall, and let the snap do the setup. Should not loose any thing this way. The FAQ's has prcedures for doing this.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Looks like the OS for the 2200 is on the chip after all. I'll have to track down a sup file. Anyone point me in the right direction ?

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
No it's on the HD. Need to setup the 805 unit in raid 1. This way it will boot off either drive. Then move it over. Long as the drive is in the master position it will boot.
The 2000 models are stored in flashram.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Here is what I was experiencing. Boot with 1 805 drive as master (furtherest away from MB). System would boot and show ver 805. Install 803 drive in slave (closest to MB). Reboot and it shows formatting the new drive. After format completes system shows ver 803. I think that I either have the master/slave confused or this resulted from not getting rid of the MBR on the 803 drive (not really sure how to do that). Thanks for all your guidance so far.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
reed, With one drive (805) run co de info from debug and see which drive it is reporting missing. 10000 is considered the master boot drive.
You can over write the 803 using dd to copy the 805 boot tracks over the 803 drive. RainbowPreacher NO, it's copywrited material and is not allowed on this site.

I have a 4100, so I can't use drives larger than 137gb, which is fine for me. I don't think the 2000's have that limitation, but someone else on here can answer that better than I can. |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Those files are completely different, and probably not get your servers back online anyway
Also read the FAQ - We dont distribute the software

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Hi - I have a Snap Server 2000 with these parameters:
Bios 2.0.252 Hardware 2.0.0 Software 3.1.618 (US) Serial 44xxx I've been trying to upgrade to version 3.4.805 or higher but the Adaptec site keeps getting you in useless cycles without letting me download the upgrade. Any chance one of you folks might help if you have a 3.4.805 or higher OS upgrade image? Much appreciated selimt a yahoo com |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
You are correct Dave. It's best just to leave it and if anybody request software etc..link. and such .... just don't reply to it. Anyway just my two cents on it for whatever it is worth.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Hello:
If you did find it and you are posting it here on how to get this or find it you are breaking the RULES HERE! And if you are smart and found a place for it at there(Adaptec) site that is generally not open to the public, then you are surely going to have it(back door) shut down by showing it to the world. Think before you post. Retract your post. Thanks Just my two cents, bitor Last edited by blue68f100; 05-18-2007 at 06:30 AM. |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I do not see where he is breaking any rules, he is simply stating how he found it and isn't posting any links so I see no need for him to retract any posts.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
He is not breaking the rules technically. But If adaptec comes here and sees how you can search and find it. Then they might say something about his post. And SHUTDOWN the back DOOR and maybe get this forum in trouble. That was my point.
Just my two cents, bitor Quote:
