Default Forcing maintenance on guardianos 18000

My os somehow got corrupt. The machine was only accessible as a share. I was unable to login via the web or the snap server manager. I noticed that the bios showed console redirection via serial and decided to give that a go.

I connected my laptop to it via a null modem cable and was pleasantly surprised to see that I had full linux shell. I used the touch /nopivot and rebooted it. The rest was done via web browser.

Yes, The serial ports during boot shows the complete OS load cycle and check. Then your in the shell as you discovered. A lot of times if you go through the load cycle you can pin point the problem. Putty can also be used when the gui is not working correctly, too. This is overlooked most of the time.

Now the bigger question what caused the problem?
A non supported OS (Vista, OSX) if a older version of the GOS.
If exposed to the outside world you may want to look for FTP access in the log.

The reason it was corrupt was because I was compiling packages on it so I could make it into a media server. I forced an rpm package that I didn't think would make a difference and it did ;-)

And yes, ssh was also non-accessible ;-)
