2000 will not take 128mb ram?
I have a 2000 snap server.
I tried to upgrade the ram with 128mb of 72 pin EDO SIMM (which is what my version uses). I installed the new RAM and the server would not come back online. I put back in my old 32mb and everything is fine. I was wondering did anyone successfully upgrade a 2000 (with 72 pin EDO memory) to 128 mb? Is there any debug command to view the log files and see why the new memory did not work? Any help is appreciated. sgossard34

actually like the original except for size. both sticks are 72pin EDO SIMMS. Any ideas why this will not work? Also what is the debug commands to view a log to see what messages are generated on why this stick will not work. I do not know the commands. thanks, sgossard34

Re: 2000 will not take 128mb ram?
You can see if the memory upgrade was successful by sending the command "debug memory" from the http://snapip/config/debug/ page. However, if the server won't even boot, you won't be able to get that far. There probably aren't any logs for the same reason. It looks like the hw v1 snap 2000 won't accept 128MB of RAM. I was able to upgrade my hw v2 snap 2000 to 128MB however.

Re: 2000 will not take 128mb ram?
I'm not sure the log was made, since the snap never booted up.
I got some simms that didn't work with mine too. It may have something to do with the page size. Try another chip, any size and see it will start. Then do a search to see what the differences are. Send me the mfg and pn of the 128meg that didn't work. I will see what I can find.

Re: 2000 will not take 128mb ram?
Make sure it is seated good, that can cause a problem. Move it back'n forth a couple of times before locking it in place.
My original 32 meg is UG16M83222KBT-6, 8x32, 50ns, 5v, EDO FPM. The one you got is a 32x32 extended output? Contact you supplier and tell them it didn't work. Give them your org PN.

Yes it is 32x32. How can we confirm these units can take the 128mb though? I would want to find that out first before I return this to the manufacturer.

Re: 2000 will not take 128mb ram?
Go back through the forum's post, and look to see who have upgrades. Then send them a PM to find out what they used, and weather it was a simms or dimms. Since there are 2 versions. Most of the latest upgrades had been on 4x00 and 2000 models. The 2200 don't have any ram sockets.
