#Rotor's composite shroud - first timer
Finally got some time to play with my setup, got all the materials a few months ago, and finally yesterday found some time to make this.
Thx again #Rotor for another fine quick&easy DIY piece. Started with drilling the corners of the plexy with 15 mm wood drill bit (didn't have bigger one at time), and cutting with 'dremel'. Used standard cutting disc.

Cut and deburred, and sanded a bit with 400 grit to gain some smooth edges. This is to be a shroud for a 120mm fan on a opel cadett hc.

Time to use some stockings. Wife was at work, so I just informed her to stop by and get herself some new ones cos' these aren't goin to be usable after this. Luckily, she knows me, and just said OK. No questions asked.

I couldn't find a good support for this, so decided to work like this. Supported the frame on one old computer case cover, adjusted the depth of the shroud with some ruined #Rotor blocks I made earlier, and now I was ready for composite.

This is the stuff I bought a few moths ago, three component kit. The only one I could find locally. The resin and purple component can be mixed freely, without causing a reaction, the catalyst is the thing to be added just before you gonna apply it on the working piece.

Applied it with a brush, still eager to see what's it gonna look like to work with. It was dead easy (except the not-breathing thing, this stuff smells badly). After about an hour, the composite should be rigid, but, it wasn't. The amount of the catalyst I added was too small, in the end, it took almost 12 hrs to settle. Guess the experience with dosage of the catalyst will shorten that time in the future. The manual on the kit said that working time when all components are added is about 20 minutes.
So, more catalyst next time

Voila, the shroud after 12 hrs of drying. Think that I'll have to apply another layer of composite, now it just looks too thin and fragile. But satisfied, none the less.
I'll post the final pics after another layer of resin and drilling/cutting/painting. I had a great time doing this, thx again to #Rotor and his inventive mind! Guess that I'll be making some new blocks soon, so Blackeagle, if you are reading this, thx again for lexan, it'll finally come into use. Thx again guys, and Cheers!

Lexan looks soo good that I just didn't want to try to cut it before I find a good saw, don't wanna ruin the piece. Thanx a lot, again! This shroud was fun to make, I just applied another layer of resin (with more catalyst this time, it's hardening already), easy and funfunfun. I'll be (soon I hope) makin some new blocks for me and bro, and I'll surely post here. Stay good, and ofcourse, here with all of us! Cheers man!

Small update, cutted and sanded the 120 mm hole for the fan, and sanded the whole thing. It's starting to look like a shroud
