...and here's my WC project in progress...
Just adding my two pence's worth:
The water cooling assembly can be removed in one piece for maintenance (not that it should need any...) Detail of the home-grown rear fan grilles... And that is a polished aquatube on top... Drilled out to accommodate a wider diameter tubing. Anyway, the modding continues.

That's way cool.
I hope to have pics of mine soon as well. Like yours, my pump/rad/fan should end up being removable as an assembly, and fillable/bleedable, but without opening up the case. By the way, what do you use to bend your aluminum? Last edited by JSimmons; 04-21-2003 at 10:06 AM. |

This looks REALLY good... I like the all-in-one modular fan/rad/pump combo. Really nice and clean job! And, it was about the time you take those two beauties from the shelf and give 'em some action ... Can you share some more info how you made the fan grilles? They look industrial, very precise and very NICE (at least to me...)? Great!

hara is right: it's the MSI K7D Master-L (which means it's got network built in). I considered the Iwill, but there's no way it would have fit in the case, a Lian-Li PC-12.
The specs are a bit fluid at the moment, as I'm buying the electronics when I really need them. No sense getting certain components now when I won't be installing them until a month or two later, and the price has come down. Still, the idea is: Athlon MP --fastest money can buy at the time, I'm aiming for a set of 2600; 2 x WD 1200JB (120G, 8Mb cache); 2 x CD-RW/DVD; 1 floppy (duh); 1 3.5" bay 6 multi-media card reader; 1 gig memory Radeon 9800 5" colour LCD screen in floppy bay, running Glint. (Visit www.scitechconcept.com to find out more) Watercooling: - The blocks you see are Paul Vodrazka's home-made blocks (There are some threads on this forum discussing them); - Probably a Danger Den block for the Radeon (unless D-Tek comes up with something better); - Aquatube res; - Johnson CM30P7-1 pump (12V, continuous rated, about 360 GPH; there are some threads here discussing that one also); - BIX chrome edition rad; - home-made shroud; - Aluminium 120mm Panaflo fan. eBay occasionally still has these discontinued models. General case cooling is by four Thermaltake smart fans. There's going to be a Zalman passive NB cooler, and silver rounded cables of course. Puzzdre: The grilles you see are easy to make, really: You get the standard Thermaltake grille that comes with the fan: And mount one of these esoteric Hi-Fi anti-vibration feet on them. They are called "Tenderfeet" and you get three for about $10,--. They are aluminium and come in silver and black, and two sizes (pointy and flat. these are the flat ones): Superglue the foot on the grille. Use "gel" superglue-- less runny. Et voila! Bit of a cheat, I suppose, but I didn't have access to a lathe. Looks trick though, and it's cheaper than buying custom grilles.

Nice idea! I like the looks of them, but think I'll have to go to the machine shop to make me some, don't wanna sacrifice the brass ones I already got under my CD player...
keep the project goin' (and post more pics )! Cheers!

Tenderfeet can be bought :here: for instance. Located in the UK, they ship to the US as well. Otherwise, just type "Hi-Fi Tenderfeet" into Google.
The 5" LCD screen can be got at Parts Express. They don't do a touchscreen version but Gideontech, as it happens, do a review of a 5.1" one :here:. That one is made by Massworks but they do not sell it anymore. For articles/pics on mods involving the 5" LCD screen visit: Mikhailtech Wise Ganesha's Hardware Extravaganza Gruntville Soulsend Gideontech Gallery Bit-tech.net forum thread
