I'm at the point where I'm thinking seriously of building my next case out of plexiglass or carbon fiber. I'm thinking about building a case about the size of a mini-tower that I can fit a full size mobo in with 3 fiver drives and four HDDs. I'd double the case size sideways for a contained area just for the watercooling equipment, and then take a large section of sealed clear tubing (1 ft wide by 1 ft long) sealed, and make a silo on the top of the case as a res. Once done, I'd put the whole thing on chrome casters. As far as circulation goes, the watercooled side would be isolated from the computer side. The computer side would have a 120mm blowing in from the front and 2x80mm blowing out the back. These would be run at low voltage, regulated through a potentiometer on the front of the case (next to the pot used to regulated the VCore), and the WC side would have a shrouded wind tunnel running from front to back with two 120s regulated off of another pot. I'm really thinking of doing a design in a cad program, but being that I'm designing this strictly for a W/C case, I don't know whether I should also build this around using a peltier cooler as well. I'm trying to create a design that someone with limited shop skills can take and make with a tablesaw, drill, plexiglass sheets, steel elbow fasteners, bolts, and PVC glue that'll make a top notch case (custom built clear case for under $50 that is geared toward watercooling).
Anybody interested? I'll get to work if anybody wants me to. Just give me ideas. |

So the rated watts on a peltier is the heatload that the pelt can transfer from one side to another? Therefore if you have a CPU that puts out 100 watts, then you need a 100watt or greater pelt? It's just an example, I'm just trying to understand what the actual watt-rating on pelts represents.
