Default Crystal Orb - Lapping?

Just recieved my new Thermaltake Crystal Orb. Compared to the Blue Orb, this one feels like it's a quality product. Entirely solid heat sink (not two piece like the Blue Orb)!!!

My question here is, although the base seems flat, and I know this unit should be many times better than a lapped BlOrd in it's stock form, is there any advantage to the nickel plating? Nobody seems to have commented on lapping these (as there percievably flat), but I thought nickel is a inferior conductor of heat, so isn't that minorly defeating the purpose of the copper cooler, or does it matter less due to the large die area on video and GPU chipsets?

Lap / Don't Lap? What do you think?

it a very thin nickel plating, it doesn't have a real effect on the efficiency of the copper, it does have one main advantage though: the copper doesn't tarnish (sp?). If you want to lap, go ahead, but it prolly won't matter if the bottom is already flat like you said.

if the bottom is actually flat I really wouldn't bother, nickel isn't as good as copper, but if it is already perfectly flat you'll probably get worse temps if you lap it anyway
