Default How stupid is this guy?

I was over at overclockers.com and read this . That guy is such a dumbass, why would you ruin a G5. I am no apple lover but why wouldn't you just buy another case and build a computer. I would love to have that apple and put gentoo on it. Wow I never thought I would be so upset about the destruction of an Apple.

Very stupid. I'm not an Apple fan, but the G5 is just awesome. i have never used a finer peice of kit. i feel like finding out where he lives just to show his parents what he has done.

he could of told the, and they could of returned it and given him the money for a PC system instead. he has just wasted a whole lot of time, a whole lot of money, and a one heck of alot of fine computer

Yeh myself not being an apple man, I still can respect a dual G5... I mean.. anything that costs more than my shitty car has to be something special. And the dude ripped it apart and turned it into a 50$ crappy looking, mod box. wow a CCFL! that makes up for the Dual G5's you removed!!! hehehe

that's probably my biggest dislike for apple itself.

the other factor is the mac user community. for some reason a lot of them seem to think that they're better than everyone else, simply because of the computer they own. kindof like owning a bmw and thinking you're king of the world, darwin's next evolution. it's rather sickening (of course they're not _all_ this way).

i actually really dig the g5's aluminum case, but i'm a fan of that look. it's very clean with nice lines, i think it's really bitchin'. why mod that i don't know (can't access the site right now tho).

i would consider even more switching to mac for my creative duties, but the expense and the 6000+ font files i'd have to figure out how to convert (from what i hear it's not possible, but nothing can be impossible).

He could have at least put a nicer computer back in... not a REALLY crappy athlon system...

At least get dually Opterons or something cool back in the dually G5s' place.

I wonder if he will sell that G5 HW?

No, he put the parts to the G5 in a box and gave it to his friend who uses mac.

yea it's funny on many levels. He took a $3000 computer and turned it into a $300 computer. He replaced new SATA drives with old SCSI ones. I'd make a comment about "at least he can play more games now" but the mobo he threw in there doesn't even have an AGP port! He is a retard of epic (epix?) proportions.

I could appreciate the "rotten apple" mod that HardOCP did a while back. I could also understand if this were some rich kid who liked the Apple G5 case and so he decided to put a loaded box into one and just treat the G5 system as disposable. This I just can't understand though.

Keep in mind that (a) this person got into a University (b) people like this get to vote. Scary!

After checking back to show the guy's stupidity to a friend, it appears that the whole thing was just a sick joke.

The update was posted after most of the ranting.

Why bring back the dead to flame someone?

Indeed... did you read any of this thread beyond the first post or so Vector86? I had already pointed out it was only a joke.

Yeah as the others pointed out don't call me stupid, the correction was posted after we all read it. Maybe you should take your own advice.

LOL

That is some funny stuff. I know quite a few Apple users that would probably have the same sickened reaction. The part that amuses me is that it really exemplifies how vain Apple users can be. Sure, the guy sounded like a dipshit when he mentioned his Dell, but he specifically said that he had no software for Apple and he wanted to actually use his computer. So the guy was happy, the computer just got uglier. I mean, I prefer to have a sweet looking box next to me, but I wouldn't suggest he be strung up by his balls via personal email.

Not to say I'm not a little astounded at the difference between the gorgeous G5 pic and the crappy build he did. And no, not all Apple users are vain, but let's face it they are not cheap, and people take pride in their investments. I'm more of a budget performance guy.

"Ed NOTE: I just received this email from Andy:

"I have been feeling a little guilty about causing so many people out there to have nightmares, depression and sickness from my little joke. The reaction of people word wide has blown me away. I never intended for such a thing to happen.

My in box went from 1% to 100% in 2 days (1300 messages). So many people were pointing out what a stupid thing to do, so many people were telling me of feeling sick, some even said they cried. I felt bad for those people. It was amusing to read things like "I should be hung by my testicles and lit on fire" or the constant reference to "Taking a Porsche and replacing the engine with a KIAs". Most people cried out in horror and carefully pointed out the error of doing such a silly thing.

I am sure you are wondering why this all took place.

Are the pictures real? Yes.
Is it my own G5 case that has been cut and hacked? Yes.
Did I give away two G5 2GHz processors (IBM PC 970)? No!
So what happened?

I got a free G5 shell from a buddy of mine and pulled a prank on a Mac loving friend. He got so upset. I wrote up a little story, my imagination and warped sense of humor kicked in. I sent it to OC.com just to see the reaction. I honestly didn't think it was going to be posted. I cannot believe how fast or how far it has spread on the internet. There are an amazing number of people who are emotionally attached to inanimate objects such as computers. Mac fans seem to be much worse that I ever expected. The G5 is amazing, I would never dream of really doing that

Andy - G5 Killer" "

lamerz.... thought someone'd be that stupid hehe... jp
