What would YOU DO with this HUGE MILLING MACHINE?

My department owns a large milling machine that is hardly ever used. (the horror)

Now that I have become interested (obsessed some might say) in water block construction, I am putting out this call.

If you had this HUGE MILLING MACHINE at you disposal. (Manual Control not CNC)

What would YOU DO with it?

What style of block would you Conjure Up?

Probably a nice one

A pin fin block would be nice, and many of them since this thing is obviously GINORMOUS!

How big?

Ive got a couple of 'nice' size mills.
Wish I had a cnc tho.

well first I would get familiar with the machine and the opperations and then think up some crazy idea that could be done manually

This machine is about seven feet tall, I have to stand on a chair to remove the draw bar out through the top.

The bed itself is about 1.2 metres in length.

It can take large face cutters, but I like the collets chuck that can take a variety of end mills, including very small ones.

I am currently sourcing endmills locally, to see what is available.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Jesus! That thing must have like 20hp

I'd say it is big, but what kind of precision does it have? Can it be precisely controlled?

The traverse can be manually controlled by the hand wheel or it can be switched to motorised traverse. This motorised traverse has a fine movement control dial.

The three axial movements have standard measures around the hand wheels, like a lathe, so I believe its reasonable accurate.

I am thinking of milling a "Micro Channel Block" (antartica style) with a centre in-take and an out-take on either end.

Not very original I know, but I believe they are efficient blocks. What do you think?

Without the CNC its near impossibe to make a spirals maze.
